For some time now, LGBTQ+ families have been labeled as “non-traditional”, as opposed to “traditional” (families with opposite-sex parents). By photographing both straight and LGBTQ+ family portraits in Piece by Piece , I address the irrelevancy of sexual orientation as it pertains to what constitutes a family.
The individual polaroids that make up the collages represent various elements of identity; fragmentation made whole.

The series has been featured in exhibitions in the United States and Mexico.
